Family Vaca

My wonderful family came to visit us for a week. We had such a great time! I love my life here in the city and I love love love my family so to get the best of both worlds for a week was amazing!

Unfortunately I had to work a couple of the days they were here so we met up and did fun night things. This night we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge to watch a movie in the park. It was so fun to sit on the grass, right on the water, eat pizza and watch a movie! (ok so I didnt watch the whole thing but the beginning was fun!)
Then we went up to Rochester for the weekend where Tyler had been working. We went to Niagara Falls, it was sunnier than when we went last month but much colder. Weird.
Then that night we went to see the Hill Comorah Pageant. Tyler and I hadn't ever seen it and we both loved it! It was such an amazing production education-wise, spiritually-wise, and pyrotechnic-wise. It was an all around amazing evening.

The next day I insisted we go to brunch at Cracker Barrel (So random, that was my 80 year old self coming out) Then we went to Palmyra again to visit the Joseph Smith homes and spend time in the Sacred Grove.
The Sacred Grove truly is sacred. It was so beautiful and held a beautiful spirit. I really enjoyed spending time there with those who I love most.
I took at day off work and we had a beach day! I have been going to the beach almost every weekend and haven't had the best luck with weather but that day was perfect! I was so glad. We had so much fun.
That night we went to a Yankees game. My first in the new Stadium. I loved it! Yankees pulled it out in the 9th inning 2-1. GO YANKEES!

It was so fun to spend a week doing all the things that I love in the city but it was so amazing to do it with my family. Thank you Mom, Dad, Taylor, Dallas & Tyler for such a great week! I love you guys!

An NYC 4th of July

We had a fabulous 4th of July weekend! We have had crazy weather the last month with so much rain so when the forecast was sunny and 80ish we knew exactly where we wanted to spend the day...

Apparently I wasn't the only one with this bright idea. There were people as far as the eye could see at Jones Beach. The sun was out, the sand was soft, my hubby was with me. I was happy.

Please don't make fun of Ty's mad farmer's tan! ;)

That night we went to dinner with a group of friends at this great place near us. There is nothing like outside dining in the summer!

No, New York City is not burning, this is the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show was on the Hudson River as opposed to the East River (which we live on) where they have been for the past however many years. bummer. We went to the roof to try and watch them. We could see the show but it was behind the city sky line which actually turned out way cool! Made for a sweet photo op!
